Homecoming candidate escorted in surfer style!
Contributed by: Chris Shultz on 10/13/2006

Homecoming queen candidate Cora Douglas was treated to the coolest ride in town in the Martin County High School Homecoming Parade on September 29th, courtesy of the Treasure Coast Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation.

Douglas, a member of the Martin County High Surf Club, was escorted by fellow club member JT Meyers and chauffeured by local surfing legend Chris "Crash" Schmidt and his lovely wife Joan in Martin County's most famous beach beater -- "Bubba," a 1979 Dodge Power Wagon pickup truck.

Creatively adorned with surf memorabilia and nautical accents (and going on its third engine) Bubba stood out boldly in the procession of freshly waxed late model convertibles. In preparation for the event, Bubba received a fresh coat of paint on its rear bumper.

Surf club members joined in the procession to show their support.
