TROOP 810 AWARDS 2 NEW EAGLE SCOUTS
Contributed by: FRED HETTINGER on 6/8/2008

The Boy Scout of America Troop 810, sponsored by Stuart Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, recently awarded the coveted Eagle Scout rank to two Stuart area youths.

Cody Rogers, supported by his grandparents, Debra and Keith Hoss, was awarded his Eagle badge on Sunday, June 1. His Eagle Scout service project was the restoration of pond plantings at the U.S. Sailing Center of Martin County on Indian River Drive.

Cody, currently attending Martin County High School, plans to serve a Mission for his Church, then attend college. During his challenging "Road to the Eagle" Cody felt he gained important skills and experiences for life, including the great friendships he made and a stronger sense of personal responsibility.

Craig Higgins, son of Bonnie and Roger Higgins, received his Eagle Rank on Saturday, June 6. Craig's Eagle Scout service project was the planting of over 600 plants at a marine restoration area on Hutchinson Island.

Craig, a recent graduate of South Fork High School, has been accepted at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where he plans to attend this Fall. Craig's highlights during his Scouting experience included learning new camping and survival skills. Craig believes these skills will help him throughout his life.

Attaining the Eagle Scout Rank is a challenging and exciting pathway to maturity for young men ages 11 through 17. The Eagle Award requires the young man to learn a wide range of skills, provide leadership and guidance to other Scouts, and to perform a service project benefiting the environment or community.
