Office 2007 Compatibility
Contributed by: Bill Barrett on 6/18/2008

If you currently have Microsoft Office (2000/XP/2003), you may not be able to open documents created by Office 2007 users. This will become more frequent as folks get new computers and upgrade to the latest version.

Microsoft has improved the formatting of their documents, making them smaller and more compatible with the XML world, while improving the recovery of damaged files. Office 2007 documents can be recognized by their new extensions - .docx, .xlsx, .pptx etc.

Techie jargon aside, Microsoft has provided a compatibility pack for users of older versions. You can find a link on our web site, GatorPC.com or Google search "Microsoft Office 2007 Compatibility Pack." Installing this pack with ensure that users of older Office versions can open, read and edit Office 2007 files.

NOTE: If you don't already have Microsoft Office (any version), installing this pack will do nothing.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact us.
