Internet Down? Try MR. C.
Contributed by: Bill Barrett on 7/4/2008

With all the recent storm activity, we'd like to remind you how to restart your Internet when there's a power surge or failure.

Just remember Mr. C (Modem Router Computer). I like to think of the Fonz from Happy Days. He always came down from his upstairs apartment and said, "Heyyyyyy, Mr. C".

When your Internet goes down, unplug the power to the modem, unplug the power to the router and turn off your computer. Wait 3 minutes and power them back on (waiting 30 seconds between each).

90% of the time, doing these steps (in order) will get you back up without a 2 hour phone call to tech support in India.

For DSL or Cable Connectivity Issues:

1.
Turn Off Everything:
· Modem - Power Down (Unplug Power)
· Router - Power Down (Unplug Power)
· Computer - Shut Down

2. Wait at least 3 Minutes
· Go have a snack or call a friend while you wait

3. Restart in This Order:
· Modem - Power Up (Plug in Power and wait 30 seconds)
· Router - Power Up (Plug in Power and wait 30 seconds)
· Computer - Power On (Boot up and wait 60 seconds)

4. Test Your Connection:
· Surf several different web sites to verify connectivity.

Happy Surfing, stay dry and contact us with any questions.
