Why do you recommend pavers for patios, decks and walkways?

Pavers, pre-cast concrete bricks that come in many different colors, are a great alternative. The extensive color choices, with their multi-colors, hues, and contrasts are aesthetically pleasing. The large variety of styles and designs offers a tremendous amount of flexibility. Pavers are a non-slip surface, (not all surfaces are!) so they are perfect for pool areas and walkways. I have a water drainage problem that is getting worse as my house ages. Can pavers help?

Yes, properly installed, pavers can solve normal problems like drainage that many homeowner face over time. Because pavers are supported by two inches of sand, they can be contoured or sloped to fit any need, such as diverting water away from the home. We can also install weed blockers if that is an issue as well.

Won't pavers in a driveway crack under the weight of automobiles?

The reason driveway pavers crack is either the wrong paver was installed or it was installed improperly. Thicker pavers that are durable and strong enough to withstand turning, braking and accelerating trucks and autos, are used in driveways. Driveways are also installed in a specific configuration to accommodate vehicle usage.

What advice do you have for homeowners who are considering changing their hardscape?

I can't stress enough how important it is to work with a reputable firm. I see homeowners who pay for thick driveway pavers and the thinner, less expensive patio pavers are installed. They are ripped off and they don't know it until there's a problem. Also experienced companies will take into account your lifestyle, your color preferences and problems with the home itself that can be taken into consideration when offering choices.

Pavers are custom-made, so it usually takes the manufacturer 4-6 weeks to deliver to the homeowner. But as I tell our customers, it's well worth the wait and will add real value to your property.
