This blog is about the many people, places, things and events of the Comic, Gaming and Collectable community. “Capt.” Joel Kilmer is a native and life long resident of Saint Lucie County. With a love of comics, magic, herpetology (reptiles) and horticulture (bromeliads) “Capt” Joel is always doing something in the community. Big Dog Comics is the largest comic, gaming and collectable shop on the Treasure Coast and has been serving the community for over 23 years. We are active in supporting positive youth activities and community charities.

Time For Battle! Pokemon Battle Road is back!

Pokemon Battle Road Autumn 2008 is coming to Fort Pierce on Sunday October 5th. Sponsored by Florida Pokemon (http://www.floridapokemon.com/) and Thunderdome Gaming (http://www.thunderdomegaming.com) registration is from 10:30 to 11:30am. You must be in line for deck check before 11:30am to enter the event without receiving a game loss for round 1. Tournament play starts at 12:00pm.

The format is modified constructed and entry is FREE! In addition there will be raffles throughout the day for great Pokemon merchandise!

Players will be separated into three age divisions

Junior born 1998 or later
Senior born 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997
Masters born 1993 or earlier

All rounds will be played Swiss style with the modified deck that you brought. In the Swiss format, players are expected to keep playing each round, regardless if you win or lose. Players will have 30 minutes to complete each round, with each player putting out 6 Prize cards. Players who win a game receive one point; a player who loses a game receives zero points. If a tie occurs between prizes when time is called, you play until next prize is drawn. The numbers of rounds in the event depends on the attendance. At most events there are top cuts, these matches are played best 2 out of 3 with a minimum of 1 hour time limit.
