Film fans meet cast and crew of 'Natalie, Queen of Scots'
Reception for Lobsterback Entertainment fills yacht club with film aficionados, investors and business community.
STUART, FL (July 20, 2009)-Harborage Yacht Club & Marina, one of the Treasure Coast locations that will be used in the children's action feature
Natalie, Queen of Scots, rolled out the red carpet and produced a Hollywood-style party Saturday at the club to introduce the community to the cast and crew who will be filming in the area for five weeks.
Touting a theme of
The Treasure Goes Hollywood-Past, Present and Future, guests were photographed by the paparazzi upon arrival. As they walked the red carpet and entered a lobby adorned with movie memorabilia, a life-size animated Marilyn Monroe statue, Frances Langford movie posters, and Burt Reynolds photos and playbills donated by one of the original investors in the Burt Reynolds Dinner Theatre, an
Entertainment Tonight personality look-a-like welcomed and interviewed the arrivals.
Guests were encouraged to dress as their favorite Hollywood actor and actresses. Celebrity look-a-likes included Frances Langford, Clint Eastwood, Ralph Evinrude and Phyllis Diller. Televisions throughout the club played films that have been produced on the Treasure Coast, including
Empire of the Ants,
Gentle Giant, and
Moonraker. A display of props created for the movie and the acting of two scenes from the independent feature helped set the stage for the next five weeks on the Treasure Coast.
Natalie, Queen of Scots began filming on the Treasure Coast today. Gary Guertin, general manager of Harborage Yacht Club & Marina and also the chairman of the Martin County Convention and Visitors Bureau, documented the niche tourism market and history of film production on the Treasure Coast.
"From the banks of the St. Lucie River to the Rand's Pier at Sailfish Point, Treasure Coast locations have attracted film producers from the early 1900s. Film production positively impacts the community. Money is spent on accommodations, food, automobiles, office supplies, rental equipment, salaries and more. Plus, once they leave the area, these 'visitors' spread the word about our hospitality and the beauty of the area," remarked Guertin.
Brian Carroll, writer and producer of
Natalie, Queen of Scots is a former Port St. Lucie resident. "I attended elementary school here and as is traditional in the industry, I've returned to produce my first feature in my home town," said Carroll. He added post-production will take place in Stuart and Jensen Beach and he has plans to produce two more features in the area once
Natalie, Queen of Scots is 'in the can.'
