Absolutely Magical- St. Lucie West Flower Show

eAll Flower Shows are interesting, with plants and designs to please the intellect and the eye. St. Lucie West Garden Club's Spring Magic was, well, just magical. Here are some reasons why...

Location, location, location...Outdoor Resorts of America (O.R.A.) offered the very best spot for our flower show, their handsome clubhouse on Peacock Drive. St. Lucie West Garden Club was honored to accept their hospitality and enjoy a bird's eye view of O.R.A.'s garden-like grounds!

The show itself was lovely, with lots of T.L. C. from Staging Chairman and Design Consultant Jenny Boyenga. It featured120 beautifully cultivated Horticulture exhibits with almost every locally grown botanical family represented. The Design entries were dynamic, with exhibits from three groups - SLW GC members, Flower Show Judges, and 4 "guest designers" from O.R.A. Additional displays enhanced the show - Orchids (by Donna Swift and Jean Scadden), Camp Wekiva (by Janet Oliver), Water Conservation (Master Gardeners), and Flower Show Awards (by Joan Hartsock).

Speaking of awards, blue ribbons were in abundance for the day. All exhibits were very distinctive! Horticulture Awards were won by Bea Cooper, Donna Swift, and Dotty Greene. Bea Cooper earned the highest honor, Award of Horticulture Excellence. The Design Division truly featured members' creative talent. The Design Classes winners were Jinny Holler, Donna Swift, Elaine Wilford, and Pat Jaynes. Novice awards were issued to Donna Swift and Jinny Holler for outstanding entries by members who had never previously exhibited in a flower show. In addition, Donna Swift won the top Design award, Designers Choice.

Thanks to every single member! A Flower Show is glued together with a multitude of behind-the-scenes efforts as well as more obvious ones. Wearing smiles of pride, together we say that the magical spirit of St. Lucie West Garden Club runs deep inside!
