Taste sensations were in abundance on Friday, November 17th as the St. Lucie West Garden Club hosted a trio of excellent presenters from the Master Gardeners Speakers Bureau. Guests included Ina Nance and Dale Galliano who stirred up a wealth of knowledge, all related to herbs. From legends and folklore to planting and cooking techniques - tender, flavorful, aromatic herbs were the the focus. Then Bobbi Spencer used her PowerPoint presentation to introduce a cornucopia of rare fruits which can be grown in our area. The opportunity to taste the many unusual samples was a special pre-Thanksgiving treat. Sampling time gave members and visitors time to ask lots of questions and share garden interests.
Also during the meeting, garden club members discussed club business and upcoming projects. Here are a few items from the meeting agenda: Uta McFadden, Horticulture Chairperson, reported on basic needs for plumeria and white bird of paradise plants. Then members evaluated a variety of horticulture and design exhibits by Jean Scadden, Janet Oliver, and Connie Lydon which could be used in an upcoming flower show. Each one was distinctive and well presented. Connie's design was given as an autumn raffle prize. And being a day for thanks and abundance, a professional Thanksgiving design from The Flower Shop of St. Lucie West was an additional terrific prize.
It was a great day for sharing, all in all. St. Lucie West Garden Club members and guests had many reasons to give thanks.

It was a great gathering - and I so enjoyed talking to the members of the Garden Club. Thanks for inviting us. Ina Nance
