CHRISTMAS "GARDEN" CRAFT DEMONSTRATIONS AT TRBG
Contributed by: June Marsden on 11/18/2008

TROPICAL RANCH BOTANICAL GARDENS WILL HAVE ITS PLANT SALE AND PRESENT CHRISTMAS CRAFT DEMONSTRATIONS ON DECEMBER 13-14.

SANTA'S PERFECT CHRISTMAS GIFTS! On December 13-14, Tropical Ranch Botanical Gardens will offer plants for sale that are designed to please gardening enthusiasts. Most of the plants are priced below $20. Gardeners can get great Christmas gifts at a 10% discount on all plants and on-site pottery. Several of the plants have been chosen for their bright holiday colors.

Martin County Master Gardeners Maggie O'Brien and Ginny Douglass will give Christmas craft demonstrations at 10AM on Saturday, December 13, as well as at 1 PM on Sunday, December 14. Each of these holiday decorations are made with plant material, and they are easy to assemble. In addition, beautiful Holiday Angels made from philodendron leaves will be for sale. As always, door prizes will be raffled off following each of the demonstrations. Throughout the weekend, Maggie O'Brien will be available to answer questions.

Tropical Ranch Botanical Gardens is the first Botanical Garden in Martin County, and it is free to the public. In 2000, Diane Rexroad and Jim Haines established these unique and diverse gardens that surround their home, and The Gardens offers homeowners a good example of what can be accomplished on their property. Garden experts will be available to answer your gardening questions.

In addition to the Holiday Plants, TRBG will have a large collection of rare and unusual plants for sale, samples of which are planted in the garden and homeowners can see these in attractive settings. Do you want to plant a BUTTERFLY GARDEN, or perhaps seasonal visitors would like to have more PLANTS THAT FLOWER IN THE COLDER MONTHS, or maybe a place in your garden that is an ASIAN-INSPIRED SERENITY GARDEN? All of the plants and the decorative planters are for sale at reasonable prices.

As always, the public is invited to stroll through the lushly landscaped, three acre Botanical Gardens. There are many specialty areas: the International, Asian-Inspired Serenity Garden, Bamboo, and Butterfly Gardens, the Mexican Patio area, as well as three new areas: the Wedding Gazebo and Moonlight Garden, the Wine & Cheese Gazebo area, and the Herb & Spice garden. Earlier this year, a Living Library containing a Champion South Ridge Holly was inaugurated. The website contains many photographs that highlight these areas.

Tropical Ranch Botanical Gardens will be open Saturday and Sunday, December 13-14, 9 AM-3 PM. There will be hundreds of rare and unusual plants for sale ranging from large palms to plants appropriate for container gardening. The Gardens are located at 1905 SW Ranch Trail in the Tropical Farms area of Martin County. Please telephone for directions or further information (772-283-5565) or go to our website: www.tropicalranchbotanicalgardens.com.
