With less than a month to go, the Early Learning Coalition of St. Lucie County is finalizing plans for its 3rd Annual FREE Family Fun Fair. The event features children's shows, games and activities and will be held Sunday, April 5th from 1 pm to 5 pm at Lawnwood Stadium, Ft. Pierce.
"The Family Fun Fair is coming together nicely. We have more than a dozen activities for the children so far and we're continually adding more. That's in addition to a musical show by Mr. Brian and the Boppets, an animal show by the Treasure Coast Wildlife Center and guest appearances by Smoky the Bear and Slider, mascot for the St. Lucie Mets," said Event Chairperson Jennifer Zobie Mead, a resource specialist for the Coalition.
To date, sponsors include Comcast, Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers in Education, Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and the Council of Social Agencies (COSA).
Children can enjoy reading with the Star Bright Therapy dogs, digging at an excavation site constructed by La Petite Academy, learning sign language with the Itty Bitty Signers, a demonstration by the K-9 unit of the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Department, playing a fire game with the Division of Forestry, blowing bubbles with Lakeshore Learning Materials, coloring with the Children's Home Society, tossing bean bags with American General, playing games with Education Exploration as well as doing spin art, making visors and completing an obstacle course with the Early Learning Coalition.
"The Coalition is happy to host the 3rd Annual Family Fun Fair in celebration of Parents and Children's Day and Children's Week. More than 300 children enjoyed last year's event. We're expecting 400 children this year," said Nancy D. Archer, Executive Director, Early Learning Coalition of St. Lucie County.
For information about sponsorships or providing an activity at the event, contact Ms. Zobie Mead at 595-6424 ext. 118.
