On Saturday, Tequesta's 4th annual Harvest Festival was kicked off by Tequesta's Golden Parade. Under the guidance of Parade Master, Michael Cesarano; the Golden Parade stepped off at 12:30pm and was lead by Tequesta's Honor Guard. Following the Guard was a sampling of Tequesta's finest residents, businesses, and organizations.
Chief Frank Kitzerow of Jupiter Police joined Chief William McCollom of the Tequesta P.D. and Pastor Paul Beresford, the Village Chaplain, aboard the Tequesta Police Boat pulled by one of the Department's SUVs carrying the Village Manager, Michael Couzzo.
Tequesta Fire Rescue's ladder truck brought Mayor Jim Humpage and his wife Bethany. Following the fire truck was a trolley with Vice Mayor Pat Watkins, Councilmember Calvin Turnquist, Councilmember, Dan Amero, and celebrated residents Marge Harp, and Muriel Sylvester.
Jim and Kay Worth were the Grand Marshalls of the Golden Tribute Parade riding in a 1964 Ford Thunderbird. A second trolley delivered Tequesta's Golden Tribute Committee, Dottie May Campbell, Leslie Cook, Cyrese Colbert, Geoff Goldsbury, Sheila Goldsbury, Tim Goldsbury, Alice Klimas, Natalie Salts of Parks & Recreation, and Tequesta's favorite Centenarian Charlotte Mathison.
Tequesta was honored by the participation of Howell L. Watkins "Seminole Thunder" Marching Band. The Seminole Thunder gave an outstanding performance before Tequesta's Village Council and residents. The parade continued with entries from Tequesta's Utility Department, Sixberry Locksmith, Tequesta Drugs, WJTW 100.3 FM, Deborah Martyn, Amara Shriners, Teen Challenge, CR Farms' miniature horses, The Church of the Good Shepherd, Union Square Apartments, Grassy Flats, Tequesta Garden Condo Association, McCarthy's Restaurant, Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, Florida Power and Light, and Waste Management.
Immediately following the Golden Tribute Parade, Greg Corbitt, director of Tequesta's Parks and Recreation department, kicked off the 4th Annual Harvest Festival. This was the first year the Harvest Festival was held on the Village Green. The Harvest Festival offered carnival style rides for children of all ages, free food and fun. Trolley routes through the Village transported residents to the Celebration.
The performance stage, directed by "Jammin' Jim" Colbert hosted performances by Tequesta's Community Dance Group, Tucker Brothers Band, Didgeridoo Down Under, Ohana Arts "Polynesian Voyage", and the Boy Scouts of America Hitchiti Dancers.
