Tequesta Police Hold 1 st Annual Senior Academy
The Tequesta Police Department recently held its 1 st annual "Senior Academy." The event, which was designed to educate senior citizens on crime issues, crime prevention, and services available to them, was held at the First Baptist Church of Tequesta. The event was held on Mondays throughout April and lasted for a total of twelve hours.
Topics discussed included internet safety, identity theft, domestic violence, 2-1-1 phone line services, fraud, fire safety and much more.
The "Graduation" from the "academy" was held on April 28 th, 2008. Graduation certificates were given out, by Chief McCollom, to over fifty seniors who attended the "academy."
The Tequesta Police Department plans on conducting the "Senior Academy" annually with the next one being planned for February, 2009. Those who are interested in attending next year's "academy" can call Officer Bob Worcester at 561-575-6210.
