Lumen Christi Gala Details Unveiled
Contributed by: alexis walkenstein on 8/23/2006

The Catholic Diocese of Palm Beach's annual Lumen Christi Gala in support of Catholic education is drawing near. Traditionally held at the Breakers in Palm Beach, this year's black tie affair takes place Saturday December 2, 2006 hosted by the Most Reverend Gerald M. Barbarito, Bishop of Palm Beach, Rev. Alfredo Hernandez, Secretary of Education and honorary co-chairs Ron and Kathy Assaf of Boca Raton.

The Department of Development for the Diocese has been feverishly working to generate more attention and interest than ever before for this already successful and unforgettable evening.

"We want to take this year's event to new heights. It's all in support of Catholic Education and the future of our Church. Gospel values are needed now more than ever in the formation of our young people and the Church at large and that's what this evening is all about," said Maryann Cocoziello, the Development Director for the Diocese.

Cociziello is taking theevent to new heights literally.

"We even took out a billboard that will be erected across from City Place in Palm Beach on October 1st. We are hoping that more Catholic faithful and friends of the Catholic Church in Palm Beach will want to turn out and get together with the larger Church family. We want people who have never turned out to know that this is the place to be on December 2nd! We are encouraging all ages, families and singles alike to join us in support and celebration of Catholic education."

Net proceeds are broken down in support of school scholarships, a Catholic education endowment and subsidies for needy schools.

Various parishioners have been pressed into service working on the marketing aspect to generate business and community awareness for a dynamic new ad journal book which will be an additional source of fundraising for this evening.

"We hope that businesses, individuals and our neighbors will support our mission." said Cocoziello

If you want to be a part of this spectacular evening of dinner, dancing and fellowship all for a good cause or to take out a business ad, please contact the Development Office at 561-775-9517 or go to www.diocesepb.org.
