Vero's 90th Birthday - Getting Involved - The Vero Beach Power Squadron (VBPS) did along with many others.

The Friday evening officially started at 5:30 with many individuals speaking about Vero and how it all started. A lot of action had taken place all morning as the numerous participants set up for the extravaganza. There was music, food, booths, antique cars, and lots more.

I was there. Most of my evening was spent inside the Heritage Center assisting in the History of Vero Video presentation, coordinated by Dan Thomas of the VBPS.

This PowerPoint pitch, which runs about 20 minutes, included sound and showed many slides of Vero and Vero Beach from the early days. These pictures came from a variety of sources that are recognized for the most part, at the end of the presentation.

John Spilman set up the display in the Heritage Center on center stage. Bills TV loaned us a 47-inch flat screen TV for the evening.

A table with lots of information about the VBPS was set up to one side of the stage. The table had 5 photo albums from 1956 on display, boating class schedule information for 2010, copies of the Nautical News, the VBPS bi-monthly newsletter, and a few tri folds about the VBPS in general and the United States Power Squadron.
