From today's Old Testament selection of the One Year Bible:
Ezra 9:13
"Now we are being punished because of our wickedness and our great guilt. But we have actually been punished far less than we deserve"
The suffering in our lives has many possible sources including:
- The sinful and evil actions of others against us
- Satan
- The simple fact that we live in a "fallen" and cursed environment
- Punishment for our own wickedness and guilt
- The discipline of God
Whichever of the above is the source of our suffering, and however severe our suffering may seem, this much is certain...if not for God's gracious intervention,
it would be worse
.
I thank God today for mitigating your suffering. Please thank God for mitigating mine.
