Another Brick in the Wall
Contributed by: Steve Jones   on 8/13/2008

From the Old Testament portion of today's One Year Bible:
Nehemiah 6:2-3
So Sanballat and Geshem sent a message asking me to meet them at one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But I realized they were plotting to harm me, so I replied by sending this message to them: " I am engaged in a great work, so I can't come. Why should I stop working to come and meet with you?"

Nehemiah was focused and driven because he considered his job a "great work". Actually, he was just providing oversight and leadership in the building of a wall. The old Pink Floyd song intoned that every day was "just another brick in the wall". But to Nehemiah, this masonry job was a "great work" with spiritual significance. Why? Because it was GOD'S wall.

I pray that today, you will have the focus that comes from seeing your work as God's wall. Please pray that for me.

Steve
