Blog Entry 159 of 214 The Daily Devo
My thoughts based upon each day's One Year Bible reading selection.

Enthusiasm
Contributed by: Steve Jones   on 8/24/2008

From today's New Testament reading of the One Year Bible:

I Corinthians 15:58
So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.

Everything in today's One Year Bible selection, from Job, to Paul (Corinthians), to David (Psalms and Proverbs),seems designed to remind us of the brevity of life. Normally, the knowledge of life's brevity fills men with despair. In the case of we Christians, just the opposite is true. Because we know something about resurrection, the implication of life's brevity is that everything we do TODAY is pregnant with significance and meaningful repercussions - for THIS life AND for the life to come. Secular positive thinking gurus manufacture enthusiasm. Christians possess the real thing.

I pray that you are the most enthusiastic person you know today. Please pray that for me
