From the Old Testament portion of today's One Year Bible reading:
Job 31:1,11-12
I made a covenant with my eyes not to look with lust at a young woman...For lust is a shameful sin, a crime that should be punished. It is a fire that burns all the way to hell.
Some temptations are more persistent than others.The temptation of lust is one of those. The title of a popular Christian men's book suggests the reality: "Every Man's Battle." Righteous Job reminds us of one of the most effective strategies in the battle for purity. We must guard our eyes, committing not to look at young womenwith lust.
I pray that today you will renew this covenant with your eyes. Please pray that for me.
