New Testament portion
of today's One Year Bible reading:
II Corinthians 5:21
God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that
in him
we might become the righteousness of God.
How righteous does one have to be in order to go to heaven? Perfectly righteous. Is that good news or bad? Both! It's bad news if one relies on one's own personal righteousness to get there. Our sin disqualifies us. However, it's good news
for Christians
because when we enter INTO him (Christ) we
become
the "righteousness of God". You knew that, but it bears repeating. This is one of the verses I like to quote to myself every day while mentally putting on the "breastplate of righteousness."
I pray that today you will strive to be as righteous as God has already given you credit for being. Please pray that for me.
