The kings of Israel were even WORSE than our politicians today (if you can believe that). Their wicked, corrupt influence wreaked havoc on the people who looked to them for leadership. For that reason, I & II Kings is too often sad, depressing reading. Then, every once in a while, you'll have someone like Jehoiada...a lowly priest...appear in the narrative.And, because he is a MAN who is willing to take a Godly stand, he influences everyone around him to follow the Lord. By the very nature of reality that God has built into this universe, a man who stands for the Lord's truth will always send positive shock-waves of blessing upon ALL those who enter his orbit, and especially the members of his family and church. As John Maxwell says," Leadership is influence."
