Making Strides Against Breast Cancer (MSABC), scheduled for October 18, 2008 will be moving to the site of this year's Presenting Sponsor, the Sebastian River Medical Center on U.S. Highway 1 in Sebastian. Check-in for the morning walk begins at 7:30 a.m., with opening ceremonies scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. followed by the walk.
Team Leaders and participants are encouraged break in their sneakers and register on-line at www.cancer.org/stridesonline or by calling Nancy Madsen at the American Cancer Society at 772-562-2272 x 115.
MSABC would not be complete without our special survivors! Cancer survivors are invited to register as our guests, on-line or by phone. Participants may organize teams of two or more people with each walker collecting pledges from their families, friends and co-workers. Team leader kits are available from the American Cancer Society office and walkers are encouraged to raise a minimum of $100 per walker. Another option is to sponsor a walker with a generous, tax-deductible contribution or volunteer your time and talents on the day of the event.
The ACS will also host two Breast Cancer Survivors Receptions, at the Sebastian Women's Club on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 and at the Regency Park Clubhouse on Wednesday, October 8, 2008, both from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 pm.
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is the American Cancer Society's premier event to raise awareness and dollars to fight breast cancer. More than just the name of a walk, it describes the amazing progress that has been made to defeat this disease. This is the only American Cancer Society event where monies collected are dedicated to a specific initiative. In this case, funds are applied towards breast cancer research, education and advocacy as well as patient services for breast cancer patients. The success of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer depends on you! Join more than one-half million walkers around the country to help give others hope. Sign up today and join us October 18th at the Sebastian River Medical Center!
