UNDERSTANDING THE "OTHER" ISLAM

What:
Dr. Donald White, minister at Community Church, will lead a five-week Religious Exploration series on understanding Islam, beginning Monday, October 20, at 7 p.m., at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Vero Beach. Altaf Ali, director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations for Florida, will present the first workshop.

The series is to acquaint participants with the Islam, not of jihad terrorism, but the Islam of great tolerance and integrity. Subsequent Islam classes will be held in the UU Fellowship Hall on October 27, and November 3, 10 and 17.

On Sunday, October 26, at 10 a.m., Dr. White will lead the worship service at the Fellowship, speaking on "The Global Challenges of Religious Diversity."

Dr. White has two masters' degrees and a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago and is an ordained Presbyterian minister. He served as professor of theology at United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities in Minnesota, a graduate theological school, for 38 years. Currently he is emeritus professor of constructive theology and minister at Community Church.
