The Treasure Coast Rotary Club of Vero Beach recognized the extraordinary generosity of two of its members at a recent meeting. Mr. Charles Harvin and Mr. Marvin Carter have both reached the giving level of
Paul Harris +4 Fellows for a lifetime of charitable giving to the Rotary Foundation. Charlie joined Rotary in 1959, while Marvin became a member in 1975.
The Paul Harris Award is named for the founder of Rotary, an attorney who in 1905 gathered business associates in Chicago together with the goal of friendship and service. Rotary has grown to include 1.2 million members in 32,000 clubs in 200 nations and geographic regions around the world. Each local Rotary club participates in various local and international service projects throughout the year. The Rotary Foundation is currently spearheading collaboration with the world's major health organizations to eradicate the polio virus endemic in four final countries. The Treasure Coast Rotary Club is pleased to recognize our friends and members in their assistance to this world-wide endeavor.
Rotary clubs are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and made up of business owners, managers, professionals and community leaders. As signified by the motto "Service Above Self," Rotary's main objective is service - in the local community, in the workplace, and throughout the world.
