Astorino Receives PRISM Award for Residential Interior Design
Naples, FL Residence Honored for Modern Design
Palm Beach Gardens, FL, September 29, 2008 -
Astorino, a full-service company that has built a reputation for quality design and innovative solutions, was recognized with a 2008 Silver
PRISM Award for Best Mid & High Rise Condominium for Sale-Common Entrance in the category of Interior Design. The annual PRISM Awards were held at the KravisCenter for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach in August. This prestigious industry competition is sponsored by the Sales & Marketing Council of the Gold Coast Builders Association.
Marigil (Gil) Walsh, ASID, head of the Interior Design group of Astorino in Florida, led design efforts for this project and was assisted by Kalna Miller. Both faced many challenges transforming Mary Sue and Randy Potter's "designer-ready" Naples, Florida condo into a contemporary home. Despite having a significant collection of modern art, the couple had not yet created space for it that was clean and simple. Wanting to style their condo after their love of organic products and a desire to live a simpler life, the Potters worked with Astorino to create a clean, modern design with the feel of a New York loft. Instead of dropping the ceiling to get around impenetrable concrete slabs, track lighting was treated as sculpture. Wheeled, pocketed Bartel doors from Germany helped solve door placement problems in the sharp-angled condo.
Bamboo flooring was selected for its "green" qualities as well as aesthetics. LavaStone countertops in the kitchen and bathroom were incorporated with Wenge wood cabinets and concrete wall tiles. These features and designs helped to highlight the couple's collection while creating a welcoming feel for those who gather there or stay in the two guest suites. The Potter residence was featured in
Naples Illustrated.
PRISM Awards (Professional Recognition in Sales and Marketing) are presented each year by a panel of industry experts to builders, developers, architects, planners, interior designers, landscape architects, sales teams and others who have demonstrated building and design excellence.
