Contributed by: Jamie Jackson on 10/2/2008

Seacoast National Bank celebrated its 16th consecutive year as sponsor for the United Way of Indian River County Community Leaders Breakfast that was held on September 9 at Oak Harbor in Vero Beach. The Breakfast has grown into one of the premier recognition events in our community.

The event highlights included United Way honoring Seacoast National Bank with the prestigious "2008 Richardson Award: The Essence Award for Excellence in Community Contributions" in recognition of Seacoast's contributions to 25 local organizations.

"United Way is honored to recognize Seacoast National Bank with this award that recognizes their community contributions," acknowledged Michael Kint, Chief Executive Officer, United Way of Indian River County. "They truly represent the spirit of giving in our community and are always at the forefront of charitable giving through financial, as well as volunteer support."

"Seacoast's recognition as the recipient of this prestigious award is a testimony to all the large and small things employees at Seacoast do in contributing their time, talent and treasure to the United Way," explained Jay Hart, Seacoast President of Indian River County. "We are proud to accept this award in recognition of all our Seacoast employees and the positive difference they make in our community.

Seacoast was recognized earlier this year with the "Torchbearer Award "at United Way's Thank You Celebration for their outstanding support of the 2008 annual campaign. With an initial commitment at the beginning of the campaign to raise over $12,000, Seacoast nearly doubled that with 100 percent of Indian River County employees contributing to the annual campaign. Additionally, Seacoast also supported United Way as an Elite Campaign Sponsor, participated in the Loaned Executive program, supported the United Way Center campaign with a final five-year pledge payment of $1,000 and participated as an employee group in the 2007 Day of Caring.
For over 47 years, United Way of Indian River County has supported area programs and services that strengthen families, respond to people in crisis, nurture children, promote health and wellness, enrich the lives of seniors, develop youth and meet special needs within our community.
The operating arm of Seacoast Banking Corporation of Florida (NASDAQ: SBCF) Seacoast National Bank has 43 offices in Florida and approximately $2.4 billion in assets, and is one of the largest independent banks headquartered in Florida.
