Story

Through The Eyes of a True Floridian
Contributed by: rhonda smith on 7/11/2008

My grandfather, Paul M. Bishop, lived in Vero for 57 years, worked for the city, and raised nine children here. He wrote this poem on 08/03/78. All who live and visit here, will appreciate this poem. Papa joined granny in Heaven in 1986, but most of our family still lives in Vero, continuing our family tree.

Proud Granddaughter of Mr. Bishop,

"An Invitation"
By: Paul M. Bishop

The Treasure Coast of Florida; Is a place you'd like to be;
You may walk along the beaches; Gaze upon the deep blue sea;
To get a tan in winter; You may lie upon it's sands;
And meditate upon the beaches; Of so many foreign lands;
You may come to this decision; Lying there in calm repose;
You would like to live here ever; Forgetting all your woes;
Just west across the river; Not so very hard to reach;
Lies a very pretty city; Called the town of Vero Beach;
There the people are so friendly; You will really feel at home;
I am sure that you will miss them; When vacation days are gone;
If you feel the inclination; And you would like to come;
We will be glad to have you; Come on down and have some fun.
