Uniforms in Daycare at Kendall Academy
Contributed by: Jackie Foulks on 8/27/2008

About 6 months back we were told that Kendall Academy was switching to uniforms for all ages at the school. After some consideration which included some very angry parents they decided to make it optional for children. I have picked my child up from school today and now the school again has decided to switch to uniforms only this time we are told that every child willhave uniforms that they must wear every day. This uniform is khaki pants/skirt/shorts and a navy blue t-shirt with their logo on it. Every child has one of these blue shirts but must supply all others along with the bottoms.
I am writing this letter to try and get some input from some other parents who may attend this school or from parents who just want to comment. I am not looking to have this published in the actual flier but to just get some comments back that maybe I could use to try and make this uniform thing not happen. I am the one who back about a year ago wrote in and was praising this school with high regards. I still love the school and everything that it stands for but this. I have many reasons why I think it is such a bad idea and am wiling to discuss it with anyone who is willing to listen. However I don't want to bore the rest with all my ranting.

Please if you have any comments or suggestions on what I can do to change this situation I am open to anything.

The uniforms for Kendall Academy are AWESOME! I have only had to purchase 4 additional shirts ($10/ea)Pair the shirts with SALE shorts from Target, and you have got it made! Compare this to the cost of buying FIVE school outfits and you can see the dramatic savings! The shirts are CUTE, and dark in color so you cannot see any staining! When I pick my daughter up from daycare and we go to Publix, we are ALWAY happy to see other children BOASTING the same uniform! Aside from the uniform issue, ALL the employess at Kendall are 100% AWESOME, the attention that they give to my child is OUTSTANDING! I cant imagine sending her anywhere else! I would recommend Kendall Academy to any and ALL my family and friends! THANKS KENDALL!!!!!!!

I think it is the best thing ever!!! The amount of money I am saving in schoool clothes is amazing not to mention the fact that my son in not ruining his good clothes!!! We use those on the weekend!! $50 is all I spent on his uniforms for the whole week, it sure is a whole lot less than what I used to spend when they didn't have uniforms, another plus? I don't have to be looking for him on "what to wear today?", leave that to just mommy!!!!

While I don't have a child in preschool, I do have a daughter in 5th grade and she has been in uniforms since K-4. I personally love the idea of uniforms. Never do I have to worry about matching outfits, and she doesn't have to worry about what the other kids will wear. It's so simple and easy to deal with. Some often think that uniforms stifle a child's growth but I think the opposite, she has been able to focus on her school work and NOT worry about trivial things such as clothes and shoes. But again that is just my humble opinion.
