IRRSEF to Offer Over 1 Million in Scholarships

The Education Foundation of Indian River County is pleased to announce that more than 1 million dollars in scholarships and academic awards will be offered at the upcoming Indian River Regional Science and Engineering Fair the weekend of February 2 nd and 3 rd, 2008.


Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) is pleased to offer $780,000 in scholarships. FIT will present two outstanding participants from each category with a special award. Thirteen first place winners will be offered a $40,000 Florida Tech Scholarship ($10,000 per year for four years of study). Thirteen second place winners will be offered a $20,000 scholarship ($5,000 a year for four years of study). Recipients must be accepted to and enroll at Florida Tech as full-time students to claim these scholarships.


In addition, the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College, Florida Atlantic University (FAU), Jupiter Campus is proud to announce scholarships totaling over $200,000 will be presented to students who are selected to compete at the 53 rd State Science and Engineering Fair of Florida on April 16- 18, 2008. Each scholarship is worth a minimum of $8,000 ($2,000 per year for four years). Final entry to the college will be contingent on meeting the Wilkes Honors College of FAU.


For the first time since the fair began, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University will award one scholarship worth $20,000 ($5,000 per year for four years to one student for study at Embry-Riddle's Daytona Beach, Florida Campus.

Indian River Community College and the Link Foundation will also award scholarships. International, state and local awards will offer an additional $50,000 in scholarships.


Dr. Harry J. La Cava, Ed. D., Superintendent of Schools, School District of Indian River County commented, "We applaud the efforts of Florida Tech and other post-secondary institutions for their support of students who have taken their knowledge of Mathematics and Science beyond the classroom."

The Indian River Regional Science and Engineering Fair is presented in partnership with the School District of Indian River County and is supported by private donations and grant assistance.
