Historic Art At The Willow School
Contributed by: Felicia North on 9/28/2009

The Willow School is taking a trip back to the beginning of time to learn about art history. The fourth through eighth grade classes are learning how human beings made art even before they invented writing. The students first learned about cave paintings by turning one of the classrooms into a cave with large sheets of pressed cardboard around the walls. They painted pictures styled after the things our ancient ancestors may have seen. Next the students moved forward to making utilitarian objects that could be used in everyday life. As the class moves up through history they will learn about how art has changed according to technology and attitudes of a given time and place.
