The Education Foundation of Indian River County recently held, "Teach Me How
to Get the Money." The grant workshop is offered twice a year to Indian River
County primary and secondary teachers. Education Foundation Board Members
volunteer their time to plan the workshop: Jennifer Taylor, Gail Kinney, Debbie
Biedenharn, Judy Malone, Pat Donovan and Greg Brown. They also serve on the
review committee.
The workshop was recently held at the Alternative Education Center on Friday,
October 16, 2009. More than 35 teachers attended the professional
development session taught by the Education Foundation's Executive Director
Cynthia Falardeau. Participants learned about the basics of grant writing and
how to use the skills to apply for grants from the Education Foundation and from
other funding sources.
Each year the Education Foundation of Indian River County offers teachers the
opportunities to apply for classroom grants through the Great Ideas! Grant
Program. Last year more than $100,000 was distributed to Indian River County
schools. To learn more about the Education Foundation of Indian River County
and the Great Ideas! Grant Program visit: www.edfoundationirc.org.
The next grant workshop will be held on January 19th at 4:00 p.m. School
District of Indian River County employees may register by visiting the school
district website: www.indianriverschools.org. Private school employees may
register by calling the Foundation office: 564-0034.
