VERO BEACH - Applications for the 2008 Dollars for Scholars scholarship season are now available. Since 1965, Dollars for Scholars has awarded more than $5.7 million in need-based college scholarships to 2,268 Indian River County students.

Applicants must be residents of Indian River County and have a minimum 2.5 grade point average in college or a 3.0 weighted grade point average in high school and at least a 900 SAT Verbal and Math score or a 19 ACT composite score to apply. Homeschool students, nontraditional students and GED recipients who are residents of Indian River County are also encouraged to apply. Dollars for Scholars recipients must attend an accredited college or university full time and must remain academically and financially eligible. Applications must be received by Dollars for Scholars by 6 p.m. March 5, 2008 to be considered.
