St. Edwards School
Robin Peckham
AGE: 17
PARENTS: Kim and Bob Peckham
HOMETOWN: Vero Beach, FL
GPA: 4.52
COLLEGE PLANS: I plan to attend Brown University and double major in Environmental Studies and Modern Culture and Media.
CAREER PLANS: I hope to combine the fields of writing, filmmaking, education, activism, and ethnobotany into something no one has ever done before.
FAVORITE HIGH SCHOOL MEMORY: A few weeks ago, I was running around the park climbing trees under the moon in the rain, and everything just clicked for me - I finally began to understand what all this is about. Vero Beach made sense to me. My school made sense to me. Moving on made sense to me.
MY VALEDICTORIAN SPEECH IS ABOUT: My valedictorian speech is about understanding the growing interconnectedness of today's world, encouraging the voluntary development of the human organism, and shouldering the responsibilities of the educated.
ABOUT ROBIN: "Robin Peckham is truly an outstanding young man. His keen intellect and ability to visualize the significance of man's connection and responsibility to the Global Community clearly demonstrates wisdom well beyond his years. Robin will be a difference maker!" - Bruce Wachter, Associate Head of St. Edwards School.
ROBIN SAYS: "I don't like the idea of education being a contest with someone winning first or second place. Education is more like a tree. Recent studies show that almost all trees are literally filled with microscopic bacteria; not parasites or symbiotes, but merely neighbors - this is what my high school education has meant to me."
