Throughout the school year the children of Redeemer Lutheran Preschool of Vero Beach have been bringing their offering to chapel every Wednesday. The offerings were designated to be donated to Church World Service for purchasing various animals for impoverished families. These animals will be used for food, to trade for other needed goods, or to pass on some of the baby animals to other families so they can establish their own flocks or herds.
After a year of dedicated worship, the children have contributed enough to purchase two draft animals (water buffalo, oxen or similar beast of burden), two goats, four rabbits and fifty chickens.
The children have learned about the blessings of giving rather than receiving and have also learned how blessed they are to have the common things of life such as food, clothes, bedding and clean water. They also appreciate the opportunity to attend preschool and to be able to learn and play with their classmates.
Our program helps children, ages 2 weeks old to 5 years old, to develop physically, emotional, cognitively, socially, and spiritually. We do this by presenting Christ in our curriculum while providing a safe, nurturing, challenging and fun environment. We provide ongoing educational opportunities and work to build positive relationships between staff members, families and the church.
We plan on adopting a similar project this coming school year for the preschool chapel offerings to help others less fortunate than us.
Redeemer Lutheran Preschool is located at 900 27 th Avenue in Vero Beach. The operation hours are from 7:00am till 6:00pm, Monday through Friday, which offers part time and full time daycare, preschool and state funded VPK programs.
