Story


State Math Convention Equals VBHS Success

The Vero Beach High School Math Team placed 13th at the State Convention in Orlando. They competed against 1,125 students from 51 different schools around the state of Florida.

Freshman Winners: Sami Hashmi, 17th in Circumference/Area/Volume and Heather Fredrickson, 18th in Geometry.

Sophomore Winners: Jesus Moreno, 10th in History of Math; Grace Atherton, 11th in Equations and Inequalities; Vishal Patel, 17th in Theta Applications and 19th in Logs and Exponents.

Junior Winners: David Dancy, 19th in Probability; Dana D'Haeseleer, 18th in Matrices and Vectors; Hanisha Patel, 18th in Logs and Exponents and 19th in Matrices and Vectors; Hannah Keiler, 5th in Analytic Geometry and 10th in Complex Numbers; Fred Ouellet, 11th in Analytic Geometry, 13th in Alpha Applications, and 14th in Logs and Exponents; Ashley Villar 8th in Number Theory, 12th in Equations and Inequalities, and 12th in Logs and Exponents.

Senior Winner: Nathan Mattice placed 12th in Limits and Derivatives.

Mrs. Hiller's Competition Algebra 2 class placed 4th on the Barbara Nunn test.

The Algebra 2 team of Dylan Flinchum, Grace Atherton, Vishal Patel, and Karen Monuszko finished 9th.

The Math Team will compete this summer in the National Mu Alpha Theta Convention in Knoxville, Tennessee
