IRSC STUDENT CYNTHIA BLACKBURN AWARDED COCA-COLA SCHOLARSHIP
Indian River State College dual-enrolled student, Cynthia Blackburn, is one of only 400 college students nationwide and the first IRSC student to be awarded a Coca-Cola Bronze Scholarship for academic achievement and community service. A member of the All-USA Academic Team, Blackburn, age 17, is pursuing as Associate in Arts degree at IRSC and plans to obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Education at the University of Central Florida. The Vero Beach resident is presently enrolled in IRSC's Honors Program, a member of IRSC's National Honor Society and Phi Theta Kappa, and also attends Vero Beach High School. Blackburn received a $1,000 scholarship from the Coca Cola Scholars Foundation administered by the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation awards a total of 400 scholarships annually to students attending two-year higher-education institutions that have demonstrated academic success and have completed community service within the past 12 months. The Foundation focuses on students who have given back to their communities through volunteering, as well as those who have excelled academically. The Coca-Cola Scholars Program is one of the most recognized and respected corporate-sponsored scholarships in America.
