Michael Herman, a graduate of Vero Beach High School's 2009 class has been awarded a $1000 scholarship by the Indian River Choral Association, Inc. (IRCA), which manages the Vero Beach Choral Society. This scholarship is renewable for the next three years if a student continues music studies and remains in good academic standing. Michael will continue his education at University of Central Florida in Orlando.

At the present time IRCA supports four other college students, two juniors and two sophomores, who have been previous winners. This scholarship program was started by the Choral Society in 1997 and is now administered by the Indian River Choral Association, Inc.
