Heralded by Camp Director Jeremy Baker as "The only summer arts camp of its kind!" the IRCHS's Schumann School of Visual and Performing Arts announces a unique "All Arts Camp" for students in grades 3-6. Devised especially for young students who already have a deep interest in the visual and/or performing arts, the three week camp (running from June 9 th- June 27 th) is designed to give students a one of a kind intensive summer arts experience. "We have brought together a faculty of professional artists and teachers whose professional credits and teaching experience are second to none." says IRCHS Associate Director of Arts Dr. Ray Adams.
The selection of class experiences have a wide range including Jewelry Making, Broadway Singing, Acting & Dance, Animation, Mime, Stage Combat, Music Video Production, Puppetry, Jazz Piano, Watercolor Painting and more. The teaching staff includes such well known local professionals as Gary Miller (voice), Maggie Baker (acting), Julie Blair & Lynn Frank (visual arts) Jeremy Baker (animation, video production, puppetry & stage combat), Dr. Ray Adams (jazz piano & martial arts) Hedi Khursandi (dance) and world renowned mime artist Graciella Binaghi.
"This is our first year offering a summer arts camp and we really went all out to get the most talented and professional group of teachers we could" says Cynthia Aversa IRCHS director.
"We figured if we were going to do this, then we ought to do it right."
And do it right they have.
The camp, which will take place on the state of the art Schumann School of Visual and Performing Arts campus at IRCHS, offers students both morning and afternoon sessions. Registration is highly limited to only 45 students per morning session and 30 per afternoon. "The whole idea is to give students as much one on one time as possible, allowing them to express themselves and grow through an interaction in the arts" says Mr. Baker, adding "that we do not require any previous arts experience, just a child's natural curiosity for exploration. What more could you ask for?"
The reasonably priced camps ($65 per week for morning or afternoon session) include a daily healthy snack and drink and an end of the week showcase performance. Brochures and applications are available at the IRCHS main office or can be mailed to prospective students by calling 567-6600 ext 110.
