In conjunction with the exhibition
FLORIDA VISUAL ART FELLOWSHIP, the Vero Beach Museum of Art is offering free "Meet The Artist" Sunday public programs featuring participating Florida artists included in the exhibition. The artists featured in this exhibition represent the state's most outstanding talent.
On Sunday, August 24 at 3 pm, you are invited to meet Florida artist Amy Broderick. She will present a slide presentation in the Museum's Leonhardt Auditorium followed by a gallery talk in the Holmes Gallery. This program is free and open to the public, but attendees are encouraged to RSVP by calling (772) 231-0707 ext. 136.
Broderick grew up with a burning passion for language which developed into a powerful curiosity about its possibilities as a living organism and its potential as a creative tool. The artist uses the components of language as the subject for drawings that transform words into swirling, inflating, exploding text creatures and explore the ways in which language is used to misrepresent, manipulate, obscure, and conceal truth and meaning. She received her MFA from Hoffberger School of Painting, Maryland Institute, College of Art in 2000 and was the recipient of a Florida Artist Enhancement Grant in 2006.
The Florida Art Museum Directors Association and Florida Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs partnered to present this traveling exhibition of artwork from the recipients of the state's Artist Fellowship Program. The exhibition features the artwork of the 25 recipients of the 2006 award and showcases 65 works of art in various media.
Admission to this exhibition is free of charge to all visitors. Summer Museum hours are: Closed Mondays, Tuesday through Saturday 10 am until 4:30 pm, and Sunday 1 pm until 4:30 pm.
