In conjunction with the current exhibition
FLORIDA VISUAL ART FELLOWSHIP, the Vero Beach Museum of Art is offering a workshop by talented
Fellowship recipient artist John Bailly on Saturday, September 6, 2008 from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.
Oil and Acrylic: Expanding the Parameters of Painting
Students will learn to utilize visual thinking strategies to guide your creative process without worrying about the final product. Inspired by the conviction that the art that history remembers is the art that inspires reflection, as opposed to decorative art, this workshop will primarily focus on work that generates observation, hypothesizing, and summarizing.
Specifically, it will focus on Dadaist, Surrealist, and Abstract Expressionist methods of making art. What makes us reflect when we look at art is not only the subject depicted but also the tension created by the innovative uses of the formal elements: line, shape, texture, value, and color. By participating in a variety of fun, creative and freeing exercises, you will discover new ways to express your great ideas, in any medium. Artists who work in all visual art mediums, as well as those at all levels of experience, are welcome.
Saturday, September 6, 2008; 9:30 am to 3:30 pm; $160 ($150 members)
