Some News on the Vero Beach Power Squadron
Did you know that Vero turns 90 this month? Did you know that a celebration is coming up on October 16, 2009? Did you know that all of Vero is invited? It's not a secret.
I know a little bit about it because I have attended a few meeting and generated some press for the Vero Beach Power Squadron. We are going to participate and will be putting up a booth and sharing some of our past in the Heritage Center. That's in downtown Vero!
Did you know that the VBPS has been around in Vero since 1956? They still hold Safe Boating classes and seminars. Today they spread the word in the Press Journal, around town at various locations, still believe in community involvement and have a real neat website (www.verobeachps.com) that tells you all about the VBPS and its members.
They also have a flickr account (http://www.flickr.com/photos/vbps/) that has lots of neat photos and today if you do a web search on yahoo or goggle by typing in vbps...you'll find picture and stories.
Here are a few old news clips I took last week. I found them at the squadron building, which is located at 310 Acacia Road, Vero Beach (next to the bridge). They have scrape books that date back to the VBPS beginning and we plan to share them at the Vero Beach Anniversary party.
