Earth Day Celebration planned April 23
Contributed by: Chunky Monkey Advertising on 4/6/2006

The 2006 Earth Day Celebration will take place April 23rd from 12 p.m. to sunset at the Riverside Park Pavilion in Vero Beach.

Dr. Edith Widder of the Ocean Research & Conservation Association will speak on "Technologies for Preserving the Indian River Lagoon."

Enjoy a fun-filled day of music by TranZen, Dulcimers Plus, and Tania Ortega-Cowan, plus children's activities, kite flying, Frisbee, and "New Games" Volleyball. There will even be Baton Twirling Performances by Gloria's Girls Majorettes and Osceola Magnet Marching Unit, under the direction of Gloria Bentley and Michelle Funnell. Pro-Chef Services will be on hand with delicious food, so bring the family for an afternoon lunch in the park! Organizers are currently looking for an Origami artist to make a presentation as well. Interested Origami artists are encouraged to contact www.earthdayjournal.com.

The Earth Day Celebration is about people coming together in a fun way to celebrate the Earth. The Earth Day Circle of Hands Ceremony at 3 pm is the highlight of the day when everyone is invited to hold hands in a brief ceremony with one minute of silence for peace and cooperation.

Environmental Education Organizations are invited to exhibit for FREE. Vendors can exhibit for a fee.

Pledges raised at Earth Day 2006 will be held in trust to purchase a dive boat for the deployment of Underwater Monofilament Scuba Teams and to identify underwater debris hot spots.
