Christ Church Vero Beach's youth group traveled to Orlando Florida on a working mission trip June 24-27 under the auspices of Impact Florida. Joining other youth groups from Virginia, California and Florida, the youth and adults worked on home repair projects in the greater Orlando area. According to Christ Church's youth minister, Matthew Pittman, group activities, worship and Bible study is part of this experience and it helps to take the kids to the next level.
The days were structured with 7-8 hours of painting, priming and woodworking repair. During this time the youths would break for "Little Devo" (personal time with God) and reflect on the main theme of the week (the four elements: earth, wind, water and fire). Evenings included worship, large group meetings, and family time with their own group.
Attending youths from Christ Church Vero Beach were Claudia Conger, Laura Conger, Spencer Day, Chris Dixon, Shannon Edwards, Ryan Edwards, Scott Lauth, Hayley McCullough, Patrick Morgan, Max Padilla, Dana Pederson, Caroline Petty, Gardner Reid, Schuyler Roseland and Alex Sechen. Attending Chaperones were Matthew Pittman, Vicky Pittman, Hugh Reichardt, and Marianne Day.
Impact Florida helps young people put their faith into action through serving their local community with minor home repairs for the elderly or disabled--some with household incomes of $10,000 or less. To learn more about impact Florida you may visit their website at www.
