Contributed by: Idea Garden Advertising on 2/15/2006

2/8/06.....FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE..... The Vero Beach Prayer Breakfast will hold their second annual event on Thursday, February 21st under a giant tent on the grounds of Riverside Park in Vero Beach. Ticket sales have soared past the 1,000 mark and the event promises to set a new attendance record. Dr. Jerry Falwell, Chancellor of Liberty University will serve as keynote speaker. He is providing phone interviews to local radio stations this week.

Local resident and Grammy award winning gospel artist Wintley Phipps will once again provide musical inspiration to the crowd that promises to top 1500. Mr. Phipps has been the featured speaker and performer at many notable occasions around the world. He has sung for Presidents Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, William Jefferson Clinton, and George W. Bush at several National Prayer Breakfast events and other distinguished celebrations. Wintley was selected by Oprah Winfrey to offer musical interpretations for her week-long coverage of the “9/11” tragedy and was asked to pen a special prayer for her to deliver in tribute to the lives lost. Mr.Phipps has been the guest performer at presidential inaugurations, national conventions, Billy Graham Crusades, The Vatican and once presented a special performance to Mother Teresa of Calcutta. He served as the special guest soloist at Diana Ross’ wedding celebration in Switzerland and has been acknowledged by Oprah Winfrey as her visionary and inspiration.

“Dr. Falwell is making very few personal appearances and we are thrilled to host his only scheduled Florida appearance this year, ” said John Bona, one of the organization’s directors. Ken McKeller, another of the organization’s leaders said, “Due to strong interest and ticket sales to date, we plan to expand the tent in the hopes we will not disappoint anyone wishing to attend.” Last year, hundreds of local residents were unable to secure seats even after a tent expansion to accommodate 1200 guests.

Tickets for the event can be purchased on-line by visiting www.verobeachprayerbreakfast.com  or by calling 772-492-1041. The organization's committee is also seeking event sponsors to help underwrite the expenses.
