We just wanted to share with all of you the wonderful day that was spent on April 26 th, at Grand Gait Equestrian Center. The community came together to enjoy a family fun day in honor of and to benefit nine year old Milan (Mia) Carvelli. As you may recall, Mia is in the Brooks Institute in Jacksonville undergoing extensive therapy to combat a stroke and coma that she experienced due to undiagnosed childhood diabetes.
The weather on that day could not have been more pleasant. A perfect 75 degrees with a slight breeze only enhanced the already perfect surroundings. The children enjoyed pony rides, three bounce houses, dunk booth, structured games and hay rides. Everyone enjoyed the DJ, (DJ Fuzzy) who gave freely of his time to keep the atmosphere light and fun. The adults enjoyed barbeque and a fabulous silent auction that filled six long tables. The community was so generous in donating their services and the guests that day helped by purchasing local goods and services.
Mia's parents, Tom and Jane Carvelli report that she is getting stronger each day. She is relearning everything that we take for granted, such as eating and walking, but it is a miracle in progress. You can follow her progress by going to the following website:
