A Bloomin' Great Weekend at Gardenfest! 2008

The Garden Club of Indian River County presented its spectacular 7th Annual Gardenfest! event the first weekend in February with 70 vendors displaying a magnificent collection of potted plants, flowers, orchids, palms, garden ornamets and antiques as well as other garden related items. It was a Bloomin' Beautiful day, the weather was perfect, admission was FREE, and over 20,000 people from Dade to Brevard Counties entered under the trellised white arches in Riverside Park in Vero Beach. They wandered up and down the tent lined avenues under the shadows of the majestic oaks. It was a magical garden that tantalized all of the senses. The vibrant colors or the orchids, flowers and pottery; the echo of garden windchimes; the scent of old roses and the inviting aroma of popcorn and Greek gyros. In addition to all of the products offered by the vendors there was also an opportunity to 'Ask the Experts" at the GCIRC courtesy tent as well as consult with Master Gardeners at their tent.There are so many bases to cover that it is almost imposible to cover them all here in words, so I would like to share some photos that speak for themselves.

All of the proceeds from this event continue to be used to support the many civic and community projects throughout Indian River County. This entire event is staffed and organized by hundreds of voluteers not only from the GCIRC but from community service organizations throughout the county, and is almost a year in the planning. Community support and sponsorship allow the GCIRC to present this annual event FREE each year.

a great writeup for a great 2008 GCIRC event...terrific photos that captured the fun and involvement of the crowds that attended and of the volunteers and vendors that worked so hard to make it a success
