Indian River Estates ACTS Retirement-Life Community, Vero's only accredited CCRC, will host a Hurricane Awareness Day including a fully simulated "Hurricane Lunch" featuring how food is served at the retirement community when there is no power; see footage from the storms of '04-05 and learn how this ACTS community is prepared to weather any storm with:
- Hurricane Crisis Intervention Team
- Satellite phones
- High powered generators
- Emergency notification systems
- Extra food, supplies and water stored on-site
- On-site medical staff
- Status updates on website for family/friends
- Extensive pre, during and post hurricane preparedness
Guest speakers include Etta LoPresti of Indian River County Emergency Management, departmental hurricane procedures so housekeeping, food service & maintenance is not interrupted, raffles and much more!

Indian River Estates is located off Route 60, two miles east of I95 on the north side of the road. This program will take place on the West Campus.
