DISASTER DRILL: Hurricanes 2009

What will happen to Grandma?

Indian River Estates ACTS Retirement-Life Community, Vero's only accredited CCRC, will host a Hurricane Awareness Day including a fully simulated "Hurricane Lunch" featuring how food is served at the retirement community when there is no power; see footage from the storms of '04-05 and learn how this ACTS community is prepared to weather any storm with:

  • Hurricane Crisis Intervention Team
  • Satellite phones
  • High powered generators
  • Emergency notification systems
  • Extra food, supplies and water stored on-site
  • On-site medical staff
  • Status updates on website for family/friends
  • Extensive pre, during and post hurricane preparedness

Guest speakers include Etta LoPresti of Indian River County Emergency Management, departmental hurricane procedures so housekeeping, food service & maintenance is not interrupted, raffles and much more!

noon - speakers at 1:30 & movie at 3 pm

Indian River Estates is located off Route 60, two miles east of I95 on the north side of the road. This program will take place on the West Campus.
