A Volunteer Reception Center (VRC) is...
Opened in response to a local or statewide disaster (A disaster may be related to weather, a public health crisis or terrorism), a central place for volunteers to come to offer help, a central place for disaster relief agencies to post their volunteer needs, an organized process for matching volunteers with volunteer opportunities, located a safe distance from affected areas, and open at varying times depending on need.
A Spontaneous Volunteer is...
A person who wants to help after a disaster or crisis, an individual who is not affiliated with a disaster relief agency, and a potentially skilled & valuable contributor to Indian River County's recovery effort.
Examples of Spontaneous Volunteers include...
Construction workers, food service workers, counselors, truck drivers, laborers, and translators.
Volunteer Reception Center Volunteers...
Are able to work in a crisis situation, can work as part of a team, may have a background in customer service, counseling or facilities management, etc., and serve in various roles such as greeters, runners, interviewers, phone bank operators, safety trainers, etc.

All you have to do is LEAD the way:
Must complete the Volunteer Reception Center Training, A commitment of an 8 hour shift, and have transportation to and from the Volunteer Reception Center.
