Fishing Hot Spots
BLUE CYPRESS LAKE
State Road 60 west to western edge of Indian River County line. Look for signs.
Why Go: More of the best freshwater action in all of Florida for bass, bream, bluegill.
SEBASTIAN INLET JETTY
A1A at the Indian River and Brevard County line.
Why Go: Because the mullet run (September) is a feeding frenzy to behold. From the landings around the inlet, an angler with stout tackle can haul in overslot-size redfish and snook (which must be released), flounder, bluefish, Spanish mackerel, sharks and pompano, all in the same trip. Bring your elbow pads in order to muscle in on a spot along the railing. When the action is thick, so is the crowd there.
STICK MARSH/FARM 13
Take 512 west through Fellsmere and look for the marsh.
Why Go: Perhaps the best freshwater action in all of Florida for quality and quantity when it comes to big bass. Good place for bream, shellcracker and catfish, too.
WABASSO CAUSEWAY AND THE SURROUNDING FLATS
CR 512, where it crosses the Indian River lagoon.
Why Go: Great redfish and spotted seatrout action on the surrounding grassflats, mostly early morning and last light.
