More than 200 family members, friends, and guests celebrated the 100th birthday of William Sheehan on Tuesday, June 24. The reception and dinner took place at Indian River Estates where Sheehan and his wife, Mary, reside,
Born in the Bronx, New York, Sheehan served as Clerk of the Bronx City Court for 40 years. He recalls those years with great joy and appreciation for the lasting friendships he had with many of the judges and employees.
Sheehan was a yeoman in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
The centenarian has four children, eighteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Many were in attendance at a weekend-long reunion
following the reception.
Sheehan was an avid outdoorsman. He was drawn to golf at an early age and played it all his life. He was also devoted to fishing of all kinds. His favorite hobby is ballroom dancing which he and his wife enjoy at every opportunity.
When asked what he thought contributed to his long life, he answered,
My love for life, my wonderful wife and family-and the opportunities I had to live my passions-outdoor sports and dancing.
